Abdul Aziz Shura (Aziz Kashmiri) was a distinguished Islamic missionary, journalist, and scholar of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement, born in June 1919 in Srinagar. After completing Honours in Urdu and Literature from Kashmir University in 1951, he served as editor for several publications including Albarq, Jouhar, and Kashmir Gazette, and founded the daily Roshni in 1943. From 1951–71, he represented The Islamic Review of London and worked to promote interfaith understanding through research and dialogue. As Secretary of the Kashmir Press Conference, he arranged the historic 1944 meeting with Mr. M. A. Jinnah in Srinagar. A tireless missionary, he guided visitors to the tombs of Jesus and Moses, explaining Kashmir’s biblical links. His renowned works—Jesus and Christianity (1952), Christ in Kashmir (Urdu 1967, English 1973)—remain foundational, with later authors relying on his research. Honoured in 1988 by the Saraf Trust, he attended international scholarly conventions and travelled widely in pursuit of knowledge. Through his writings and da‘wah, Aziz Kashmiri illuminated Islam’s universality and strengthened the bridge between faith and history.
