Brigadier Abdul Latif was a dedicated and valiant officer of the Pakistan Army, affiliated with the 501 Central Workshop / ITD Directorate. Born on 26 April 1959, he served his country with honor and distinction. A committed member of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement, Brigadier Latif exemplified discipline, integrity, and devotion both in his faith and his military service. On 17 August 1988, he tragically lost his life in the infamous C-130 Hercules aircraft crash in Bahawalpur, which also claimed the life of President General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq and several other senior military officials. This incident marked a significant moment in Pakistan’s history, and Brigadier Latif was officially recognized as a Shaheed (martyr) for his ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Brigadier Abdul Latif remains remembered with deep respect by the nation and the members of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Jamaat, who honor his legacy of courage, loyalty, and faith.
