The Ahmadiyya Anjuman Isha’at-i-Islam (Lahore) Fiji (AAIIL Fiji) was established on 3 October 1934 under the direction of Maulana Muhammad Ali, the renowned translator of the Holy Qur’an and Head of the AAIIL in Lahore, India (pre-Partition). Responding to appeals from Fiji’s Muslims, he dispatched Maulana Mirza Muzaffar Baig Sateh in 1933 to defend and strengthen Islam amid rising challenges. His arrival marked a turning point—reviving Muslim education, unity, and religious identity across Fiji. The AAIIL Fiji became the first Muslim body formally registered under British colonial law, upholding the teachings of the 14th Hijri Mujaddid, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who championed peaceful propagation of Islam. Guided by the principles of the Holy Qur’an and Maulana Muhammad Ali’s scholarship, the movement established mosques, schools, and later its headquarters at Masjid Noor, Flagstaff, Suva (1983). For over nine decades, AAIIL Fiji has remained a beacon of Islamic learning, tolerance, and truth in the Pacific.
